The Results Coaching Model

The Results Coaching model is a cutting edge approach to coaching developed by David Rock in 1996. The model helps people close the gap between where they are and where they want to be in their personal and professional lives. It is results focused and delivered one-on-one over a defined length of time. The Results model deals with personal, business and corporate issues in a holistic way, working with the complete individual.

The model draws from many areas, including the latest research and thinking in neuroscience, positive psychology, emotional intelligence, adult learning theory, creativity tools and management development research. Click here for a complete outline of the influences in the model. Listen to “Coaching with the Brain in Mind” – a 90 minute teleseminar led by David Rock which discusses what every coach, manager or leader should know about the new science of attention, reflection, insight and action.

David RockFor additional information about the neuroscience of coaching and leadership which informs our coaching models you may also want to listen to Results of the NeuroLeadership Summit hosted by David Rock. This one hour teleseminar offers you the highlights of this first ever global Summit including the many insights that emerged from the scientific presentation: insights like a new formula for change; a new understanding of the social brain; a new perspective on cultural difference; a new understanding of how expectations shape experience; and a new take on engagement. As a result of listening you will be able to understand the research highlights and their implications for leadership, critical thinking, and performance.

We believe that coaching is easier to deliver and receive when it has a clear structure and framework behind it. The Results Coaching model provides a well-defined foundation ensuring the process of coaching is professional, accountable and rigorous. Because of this methodical approach, the model is ideal for working with executives, business owners and professionals of any level, as well as for delivering inside organisations.

Underpinning frameworks in the model

Where the Results Coaching System can be applied
The Results model is useful across many types of coaching, and can be tailored to many situations. It is robust enough to work with almost any individual willing to go through change, yet flexible enough to allow individual coaches to add their own ideas and previous training to the process. Though the system is well structured, the Results approach requires that the coach is completely authentic and 'in the moment' with the client.

The Results Coaching Systems model is useful for working with all types of goals within a wide variety of situations, as long as it is delivered one-to-one over time. The agenda can be the individual's alone or an individual and an organization.

Results Coaching can be applied to the following arenas:

Life Coaching
Personal Coaches are engaged by individuals. The coach will work with the client within the context of their whole life, and work on a variety of area's depending on where the client wants to focus. They may focus together on the clients creativity, health, career, finances or personal relationships.

Business Coaching
A Business Coach works with owners of small enterprise, focusing on the company's development and the client as an individual. Business Coaching uses all of the core processes within the Results approach and includes additional templates and resources.

Executive Coaching
Executive Coaching adds the organisation's agenda to the coaching paradigm. It involves all of the Results frameworks with some variations, plus additional assessment tools and resources. Executive Coaching tends to be delivered by coaches with a strong business background.

Workplace Coaching
Workplace Coaching is designed to get managers coaching their internal teams; working with either direct reports or with staff across an organisation. It involves the use of the Results Coaching System model with some changes to goal types and the exact method and timing of delivery.

Results Coaching is a powerful, rich and deep process that moves people along the journey to personal and professional success with focus and speed.
